Babylonians, Mayans and Indians independently invented zero, where as some of the researcher says that Babylonians influence the Indian number system . Sumerians gave the number system to the Babylonians , the first people in the world to develop a counting system it was developed around 4000 to 5000 years ago. A natural history zero says that an ancestor to the placeholder zero may have been a pair of angled wedges used to represent an empty number of columns.
